Administering of Medication

To provide staff working in a healthcare / health and social care setting with sufficient information to be able to safely undertake the role of basic medication administration in accordance with the organizational policy and within the boundaries of their
​training / role. 

Course Contents:
Discuss and gain knowledge about licensed medication
Be aware of the legislation relating to medication and its application
Know the routes of administration and the theory of how to safely administer via the most frequently used routes
Appreciate the importance of and legal aspects of medication administration.
Complete the appropriate documentation in relation to medication
Consider the term ‘consent’, how it should be applied in medication administration and how medication can be abused
Recognise the signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction and the actions to take.
